Project Topic
The topic of this project will be to create an application for people to be able to organize their closets and pick what they wear on a daily basis.
Initial Research
Through this exploration, I was looking at how to create an app that can categorize a persons closet based on outfits. This app would be a combination of shopping applications and productivity/organization applications. The app should allow the user to upload and categorize clothing items so that it can be set up similar to a shopping app with different section for different types of clothing. It should be straightforward and efficient, as well as not having too many pages on the bottom navigation bar.
In terms of the look and feel of the app, I looked at different productivity applications to create something fun and appealing for fashion lovers. The light colours and animations featured in these applications would be inviting to the user while also keeping everything tidy and clear. By having a light colour palette, it can make organization and closet maintenance more fun.
Analysis
The topic of this project will be to create an application for people to be able to organize their closets and pick what they wear on a daily basis. It is not only for people who enjoy fashion, but also for people who need help deciding what they wear everyday as well as people who wish to stay organized and aware of the clothes that they own. The application will be able to generate entire outfits based on their category, the weather, and the overall style of each item of clothing. The goal of the project is to help the user’s overall organization and efficiency on a daily basis. Another goal is to allow the user to have a seamless experience getting ready for the day as their outfits have been planned based on multiple factors such as, weather, style, type.

I like this idea because it is simple but also very useful. There are also no options currently available to users that happen to be free or visually appealing. I will be able to know what to wear based on my own preferences. I like that this app functions as an efficiency tool but is also very specific rather than a general to-do list. This app is also one that can save your preferences and be a tool that is used for years as a user purchases more items or the seasons change. It additionally allows a user to be aware of the amount of clothes they have all the time and hopefully helps fight against fast fashion and lower the user’s overall spending by giving a multitude of options with a limited number of items.

The elements that could risk this project is the accurancy of the outfits created if the items are entered into the app and categorized clearly. If the user mislabels or is not specific in how they mark the items, they may get options that are not compatible. Another issue could be the app regenerating the same outfits frequently or generating outfits that do not follow the user’s personal style. However, what I enjoy is that the app could generate combinations that I might never think of. That is why the inspiration for my project is my own personal struggle with choosing new combinations of outfits and sometimes picking bad outfits in a rush. I like the idea of being able to optimize my closet and my style in general.
User Flows
For my user flows, I created 6 different basic scenarios the user would experience frequently such as, adding an item to their closet, generating an outfit for the day, adding a clothing item to their favourites, editing their profile, or even creating their account.
Paper Prototypes
The paper prototypes began exploring the layout of the app. The wireframes and the navigation of the app included the four main pages of the app which were the user's closet, the outfit generator, the calendar page tracking previous and future outfits, and the profile page.
Feedback
As a part of our assignment, we each were able to review one another's work and provide feedback. The feedback was categorized as 'caution' or 'continue' with 'caution' being attributes that should probably be modified and 'continue' being more like suggestions to develop pre-existing features.
Mid Fidelity Mockup
For the next stage of the first assignment, we had to create a mid fidelity mockup of our app idea. I looked at ways of generating outfits, saving them, viewing previous outfits, and also creating an archive of all the items in your closet.
High Fidelity Mockup
For the final stage of the first assignment, we had to create a high fidelity mockup of our app idea. I focused my app on three main pages: closet, outfit generator, and profile page. These pages were all very deep and included subsections for clothing items, looking at past purchases, and editing outfits by each item once it was generated. The application used pastel colours to look light and fun for the user and endorse them organizing their closet as a fun activity. All pages had a help button that informed the user of information or buttons they may not understand, whether it was describing what a style of fashion was or how to edit the outfit that was generated.
